Preparation for tourist in lieu of Mt Agung eruption
For months, Mt Agung has threatened to erupt with high level of sesimic activities.
The good news for those traveling to Bali, according to Straits Times, the volcanic activity in Mount Agung has decreased. Indonesia's volcanology centre has dropped the volcano's status from Level 4 "danger" to Level 3 "alert".
But please note that volcanic activities have not ceased and there is still a possibility of an eruption.
That is why as tourists visiting Bali, we have to take precautionary measures should it erupt. These tips may just save your life.
1) Know what to do during an earthquake
In lieu of an earthquake of large magnitude;
If you are indoor, drop to the ground and find a sturdy piece of furniture such as a table to take cover till the shaking cease.
If you are unable to find it, get something to cover your head or at worst, with your arms. Crouch in an inside corner of the building till the shaking cease. Do not stay near any glasses, window or hanging infrastructure as it may shatter or collapse.
If you are outdoor, stay in the open away from buildings, infrastructure and utility wires

2) Guarding against the volcanic ashes
What is volcanic ashes and how it is differ from normal ash?
Under high temperature and pressure, carbon can become different type of minerals/ allotrope of carbon such as glass, diamond and graphite.
Volcanic ash are soil under high temperature and pressure, thus it ashes consists of fragments of sharp pulverized rock, minerals and volcanic glass that are less than 2 mm (0.079 inches) in diameter. It can enter the human respiratory system and do more harm than imagine.
According to express, it is not sure where the volcanic ashes will travel to as it depend largely on the wind direction and the size of the eruption. Even if you are staying far away from the volcanic site, there is no telling it won't spread there.
In that case, there is only one solution that can guard against it, that is the N95 masks.
N95 is able to guard against the small fragments of residues from volcanic ashes.
Why do we said so?
According to 3M website, N95 have an 95% efficiency to block against particles of 0.3 μm. Just to highlight how small is it, 0.2 μm is the size of a virus!
3) Be prepared for tsunami
If you are unable to find it, get something to cover your head or at worst, with your arms. Crouch in an inside corner of the building till the shaking cease. Do not stay near any glasses, window or hanging infrastructure as it may shatter or collapse.

Prior to a volcanic eruption, there will always be a series of seismic activities.
According to livescience, seismic activities that are below 7.5 or 7.0 in magnitude usually do not trigger tsunamis. However, sometimes an seismic activity of 6.0 magnitude can trigger local tsunamis, which are smaller and less destructive.
Thus there is no telling when a tsunami will be trigger as it depend on the magnitude and fault line it occur on. So it is always good to prepare for tsunami.

4) Store the civil defence forces hotline number of the country you visiting in your phone
Always take note of the civil defence forces hotline number in the country you are in. They are your only lifeline if you are stuck in any life-threatening situation.
Some may think that sure, we can always google them if we are in a tight spot. Well you may, assuming your mobile phone have internet connection or if the earthquake does not knock off the internet coverage of the state.
For Bali, the civil defense forces hotline number is 620-118
